This post is one in a series of posts called “Glimpses of God” which I am writing as part of the Write31Days blog challenge. You can find the other posts here: 31 Glimpses of God Blog Challenge (#write31days)
From my last post (see: https://www.jenniferbleakley.com/2015/10/12/day-12-hate-vs-love/ ) I’m guessing you could tell that my heart was hurting and frustration was strong. Being saturated with the words of 1 John and meditating on the concept of godly love, made the opposite stand out like never before. I can see now why they have counterfeit specialists study real money. When you know the real thing, counterfeits are so much easier to spot.
Well, yesterday I was privileged to sit among the ‘real thing’ as we met for our weekly Women’s Bible Study at church. You guys, these women are the real deal. Yes, of course they are not perfect. We are all still sinners, but praise God we are forgiven sinners.
The ladies I have the honor of working beside have taught me so much, and they shine the light of Jesus so brightly. I have never been much of a “women’s group” kind of person. My default settings are keeping to myself with my little family, and avoiding situations where conflict may erupt (and since I learned at an early age that where two or more girls/women are gathered, conflict is usually among them, I tended to avoid large gatherings of women 😉 )
However, this group seeks to please Jesus over their own desires. They seek to proclaim His Name over theirs. I cannot express to you the joy that fills my heart each Tuesday morning as we sit in a huge circle and engage in corporate prayer. We start our time with “popcorn” praise and then move into requests. These women fully grasp that true power comes from humbling yourself before the only One with all power. They get that you are strongest when you are on your knees before God Almighty.
Yesterday, I was able to sit among godly women who are trying their best to demonstrate godly love to those God has entrusted into their leadership. It was a beautiful thing, and a true glimpse of God’s glory.
And me? I got to love on some of the most precious preschoolers on the planet as we learned that God can help us obey; all we have to do is ask!. There is still no greater joy in my mind then seeing a little one receive the seeds of truth. God is good you guys! All the time God is good. And LOVE will win! – I’ve read the end of the book! 😉
See you tomorrow,
Jen
