I’m Jen, a wife of 20 years and mom of two—a teen boy and a tween girl. Born and raised in FL, I have called North Carolina home for the past 16 years, but am still a flip-flop girl at heart. Since the age of six when I first placed my hope and trust in Jesus as Lord, I have been passionate about studying, teaching, writing and speaking about the Bible, and the Hope we can all find in Jesus. (Granted when I was six, most of my teaching and preaching was done to my audience of stuffed animals!)
I have a master’s degree in mental health counseling, and worked for several years as a child and family grief counselor with Suncoast Hospice in Florida, before moving to NC and starting a family.
Somewhere along the way, God revealed to me a passion for writing that I had long since buried. I began keeping a journal, and then writing stories for my kids. Pretty soon (and in an “only God could do that” way) I started writing for Treasuring Christ Curriculum—a Gospel centered church curriculum for children ages 2-18 (http://www.treasuringchristonline.com/). I now write preschool curriculum and online devotionals for my local church, lead a women’s Bible study and children’s classes, and serve as a contributing author for She Believes Online Bible Studies (http://shebelieves.co/)
Little did I know, all of that writing was preparing me for another calling God placed on me: to write a book. My first book JOEY, published by Tyndale House Publishers in May 2018, is the true story of a blind horse who helped others learn to see. I am so excited (and slightly overwhelmed by this journey!)
This blog serves as an online journal of sorts. It is where I go to process my thoughts and feelings. It is where I write about what it means to shine the light of Jesus in an ever darkening world. And it is where I record the beautiful glimpses of God’s extraordinary grace in the midst of my very ordinary life.
